MBRU Dubai Neurosurgery Residency: Entry & Dates
MBRU’s Dubai neurosurgery residency is primary specialist training, rather than a post-residency subspecialty fellowship. This guide explains the route for readers reaching its former directory URL. The official programme and institutional admissions pages were read on 24 October 2026.
Training structure and a duration inconsistency
The programme summary and GME listing specify six years, but the same programme page also contains a five-year reference. Confirm the intended duration with MBRU. Junior rotations include neurosurgery, neurology, intensive care and general surgery; senior rotations include neurosurgery and neuropathology/radiology. The page names Saudi Commission for Health Specialties accreditation and Saudi training rotations. Its published capacity of one does not establish an available vacancy.
Published residency entry requirements
The institutional residency-admissions page lists a recognised medical degree, completed internship and a passing EMREE or SMLE result for medical applicants. Candidates are typically within five years of graduation, with no clinical-practice gap exceeding 24 months, subject to stated exceptions. Degrees awarded outside the UAE require ECE evaluation. These are admission criteria, not confirmation that an individual applicant qualifies or will be accepted.
Application dates and the official route
The published timetable is for 2026–27: applications closed on 31 March 2026 and training was scheduled to begin on 28 September 2026. A later intake or current vacancy is not established. Follow the admissions page to the Dubai Health GME application portal for updated instructions and the applicant-specific document checklist. Residency enquiries go to gme.admissions@mbru.ac.ae. An Apply link alone does not establish an open round.
Looking for a subspecialty fellowship instead?
Applicants who have already completed neurosurgery residency can explore the separate fellowship directory. Residency entry rules and benefits must not be assumed to apply to a subspecialty fellowship.
